Skills for Learning

The Skills for Learning program supports learners by helping them to build skills and habits needed to set and achieve their learning goals, be successful in further learning, and increase confidence in their ability to be a more self-directed, independent learner.

Our tutors provide one on one support and work in partnership with each learner. They strive to ensure that the learning activities and resources are relevant to their learner’s needs and interests. The goals of our program are to ensure that our learners will be able to:

  • Recognize themselves as a learner
  • Take risks in learning
  • Engage actively in the act of learning
  • Develop learning strategies
  • Build collaboration skills in learning
  • Strengthen communication skills in learning

Skills for Learning integrates the above concepts into the areas of foundational literacy, numeracy, digital technology and English Language Learning. Our primary service model is through tutoring but small classes or remote learning opportunities can be arranged based upon learner requests and community need.
