ONE ON ONE LEARNING

One on one instruction in foundational skills that include reading, writing, basic digital skills, and basic numeracy skills. Once a match with a tutor is made, the learning plan (roadmap) is specifically designed to help the learner reach his or her goal.

BASIC MATH & LITERACY

Learners are matched with a tutor who will support the learner to develop basic reading, writing and basic math skills. Basic Math skills support includes multiplication, fractions, decimals, whole numbers, integers and other basic math concepts.

DIGITAL SKILLS

We provide one on one tutoring and distance learning options to help you develop the basic digital skills to navigate you tablet, smartphone, laptop or personal computer. We can help you learn to:

  • Create and use an email account
  • Navigate your iPad, laptop, personal computer or cell phone
  • Manage files and settings
  • Explore the Internet safely
  • Use video chat platforms such as Zoom or FaceTime

You will be matched with a tutor who will help you develop a learning plan that will help you reach your digital skills goals.

English Language Learning is available to any newcomer to Alberta who would like to improve their confidence and skills in speaking English.
They must be below a CLB Level 7.

Become a Beaver County CALP Board Member

The Beaver County Community Adult Learning Council (CALP) is looking for public members to join our board.
The Beaver County CALP Council sets direction in accordance with Government guidelines to support identified adult learning and family literacy needs for our Beaver County residents. Potential candidates have a vested interest in adult and family literacy and are familiar with learning needs in Beaver County. The Beaver County CALP Council meets a minimum of four times a year. Board members are reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in the execution of CALP duties and for mileage at the rate set annually by the County.
Interested individuals are asked to apply in writing outlining their volunteer experience and why they are interested in serving on the Beaver County Community Adult Learning Council. Letters of application may be submitted by email to Dawn Chrystian, CALP Chair or by mail at the Beaver County Office.
